2021 Manchester Wrestling


Under first year head coach John Manzo, 2020 saw Manchester start the year as a young team looking to improve as the season progressed, and that was exactly what they did. After a slow start to the season, record-wise, the Hawks hard work really began to pay off. Manchester closed the year by winning seven of their final ten duals, and had a strong individual postseason by putting five wrestlers into the District finals. They'll be looking to ride that momentum into more success in 2021.

There is good strength to the lineup in the upperweights, led by junior Matt Bryant, and senior Justice Wilson, who were two of the Hawks District finalists last season. That pair is joined by returning starters senior Chris Meyers, and junior Kingborn Morris, who were double digit winners a year ago. The potential is here for this to be a very solid group of uppers for the Hawks.

Manchester has some good experience returning down low as well, led by D27 runner-up Thomas Bodei, and returning starters Andrew Perez, a sophomore, and junior William Hinkson. 

As mentioned, the Hawks really improved as the season carried on last year. The success the team had, especially at Districts, has served as motivation for everyone to keep putting the work in to continue to move the program forward. This is still a relatively young team, but they do have a good amount of experience returning, and could be a team that is capable of pulling off some surprises this year as things trend in the right direction.
