3/7: Lawson Wins 3rd State Title; Named Outstanding Wrestler
Jimmy Lawson was once again dominant, this time on the State's biggest stage. The senior cemented his legacy as one of the greatest heavyweights in New Jersey wrestling history this weekend by recording four 1st period pins on his way to becoming just the 2nd NJ wrestler to win three state titles in the heavyweight division.
The final numbers for Lawson: four matches, four pins, for a grand total of 3:58 of actual mat time on his way to title number three.
Lawson's final display of dominance brings an end to a storied career that puts him among the Shore's all-time elite wrestlers. He graduates with three state titles, two Region 6 championships, three Region medals overall, three District 24 titles, four Hawk Classic titles, and three Nottingham Invitational titles. His 141 career wins recorded in the heavyweight division is a New Jersey record.

2/27: Lawson Pins Way To 2nd Region Title
Senior Jimmy Lawson put on what may have been the most dominant performance in Region 6 history on Saturday when he pinned his way through the heavyweight bracket on his way to his 2nd Region Title. If pinning his way to their title weren't impressive enough, the fact that all three pins came in the bout's opening minute meant that Lawson needed just 1:47 in mat time to claim the title.
In recognition of his dominance, Lawson was named the Regions Most Outstanding Wrestler. He now moves on to the NJSIAA Championships in Atlantic City where he will attempt to become just the 2nd wrestler in NJ history to win three state titles in the heavyweight division.
Teammates Ken Theobold and Jesse Meaney, both sophomores, finished one win shy of joining Lawson in AC, finishing 4th in their respective weight classes.

2010 Season Preview

With a good nucleus retuurning, and some strong newcomers joining the fray, Manchester will be a team on the rise in 2010.
The Hawks will be breaking in some new starters in the upper half of the lineup, but they do have a pretty solid heavyweight in that Jimmy Lawson kid, maybe you've heard of him? Lawson provides a huge presence up top and as the lone experienced senior in the upper half of the lineup, will be looked at for leadership as much as he will be for bonus. Juniors Anthony Prendimano and Hoss Gonzalez should be on the plus side of .500 after breaking into the lineup last year.
The lower half of the lineup will be very young with District medal winner Ethan Knapp and Casey Schoenleber as the lone seniors in the group. The sophomore quartet of Alex McDonough, Ken Theobold, Chris Stafford, and Jesse Meaney showed a lot of promise as they got plenty of varsity experience during their first year and could all have very solid seasons in 2010. Freshmen Matt Theobold, Matt Laverda, and Sean Rembach will also look to contribute in what should be a very good group.

Wrestler To Watch - (Sr) Jimmy Lawson
Heavyweights like Lawson don't come around too often. Tremendous size and strength mixed with exceptional athleticism has made him one of the all time best heavies in NJ history. He'll be looking to become just the 2nd wrestler in the history of the NJSIAA Tournament to win three state titles at heavyweight.
DESPO's Outlook
The potential is here for Manchester to put together a very solid season. They'll be in the hunt for the top spot in B-South and could make some noise at this year's sectionals.
